FareTap — Terms of Use

The terms for FareTap by SYD CABS: the card payments taken on the Clover device in each SYD CABS taxi, shown to the driver under his profile in the SYD CABS portal.

These terms are between W Eats Pty Ltd (ABN 68 649 215 967), trading as SYD CABS (“we”), and the driver or operator whose card payments FareTap records and shows in the SYD CABS portal (“you”). By using FareTap or the card payments in the SYD CABS portal you accept them.

1. What the app does

Every SYD CABS taxi carries its own Clover device, set up by SYD CABS under its own Clover merchant account. FareTap reads each card payment taken on that device and matches it to the taxi and to the driver on shift at the time. You see your card payments under your driver profile in the SYD CABS portal, together with your share, which you can withdraw through the portal. FareTap only reads payment records from Clover; it does not set or change the amount charged.

2. Who can use it

You need an active SYD CABS driver or operator account. We may refuse or end your use of the app at any time, for example when a driver or operator leaves SYD CABS.

3. Payments

Card payments on the Clover device are processed by Clover and its acquiring bank and paid into SYD CABS’s account, for the taxi service SYD CABS provides under its Point to Point authorisation. Your share is shown in the SYD CABS portal and is paid to you when you withdraw it there, through our financial institution partner(s) under our agreement with them. Drivers and operators may also receive their payouts through our partnered app TaxiCharg, operated by NSW Group of Technologies Pty Ltd (ABN 37 696 203 059) trading as TAXI CHARG. We never receive or store full card numbers, security codes or PINs. Fees and payout timing are set out in our Payment & Dispute Terms.

4. Your responsibilities

Charge only the genuine fare for the trip; keep the Clover device in your taxi and your SYD CABS portal sign-in secure, and do not let anyone else use them; and tell us straight away about any payment or payout that looks wrong.

5. Availability

We aim to keep FareTap and the portal working but do not promise they will be uninterrupted. Card payments taken on the Clover device are still recorded by Clover while FareTap or the portal is unavailable, and appear in the portal when it is back. If the Clover device itself is unavailable, take payment by another method allowed by SYD CABS and record it on the trip.

6. Information

We handle personal information as set out in the SYD CABS Privacy Policy.

7. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability in connection with the app is limited to resupplying the service.

8. Ending use

These terms end when your SYD CABS account ends, or when the Clover device is removed from your taxi. Your share of payments already taken is still paid to you as set out above.

9. Changes

We may update these terms and will publish the current version on this page with its date. Continued use after a change means you accept it.

10. Law

These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales.

Version 3 — 18 October 2026: FareTap records the card payments taken on the Clover device in each taxi (under SYD CABS’s own Clover merchant accounts) and shows them under the driver’s profile in the SYD CABS portal, where the driver withdraws his share; the wording about the meter sending the fare to the Clover device is removed. Version 2 — 18 October 2026: the app is now called FareTap (it was SYD CABS Meter Pay); payments as SYD CABS collects them (fares into SYD CABS’s account, the driver’s share paid out through our financial institution partner(s) or our partnered app TaxiCharg). Version 1 — 17 October 2026.
